Capital Projects Construction

Updated 9/19/2008

Capital Improvement Projects are street, park, and building construction projects which are funded through and managed by the City. Funding sources may include the City's General Fund, traffic impact or facilities fees, State or Federal programs, and a variety of grants. Complete information regarding proposed projects may be obtained by calling the Public Works Department at (925) 833-6630. Park and new building projects are managed through Parks and Community Services.

Some of the current Capital Improvement Projects now underway are:

I-580/Fallon Road - El Charro Road Interchange Improvements

Fallon Road/I-580 Interchange

The recent surge of growth in northeast Dublin has led the City to plan several expansions at the interchange between I-580 and Fallon Road. The project began in Spring 2008 and is scheduled to be complete by Summer 2009. Improvements to the interchange include carpool lanes leading onto I-580E and I-580 W, traffic signals at the I-580E and I-580W off-ramps, an opening eastbound and westbound loop onramps to I-580. Additionally, the City will expand Fallon Road approaching the intersection and on the overpass, and increase the number of turn lanes at intersections of I-580E and I-580W off-ramps. Landscaping will be added along the interchange to the City's boundaries.

San Ramon Road Trail Improvements

San Ramon Road Trail Improvements

This project will repair the trail adjacent to San Ramon Road and from Alcosta Blvd to Silvergate Drive. The project will be constructed in separate phases scheduled to take place beginning in Fall 2008 and continuing into Summer 2009. Improvements include cutting tree roots that have damaged the asphalt bicycle/pedestrian path, installing a root barrier to prevent further asphalt disruption, and repairing the heaving and cracking of the path followed by a seal coat.

San Ramon Road Landscape Renovation

San Ramon Road Trail Improvements

This project is located along both sides of the existing bicycle/pedestrian pathway on San Ramon Road between West Vomac Road and Alcosta Blvd. The scope of the project includes removal of the remaining plantings, an upgrade of the irrigation system, pre-treatment of the soil, and the installation of different species of groundcover. The project is scheduled to take place in late Spring 2009.

East and West BART Station Corridor Enhancement Project

East and West BART Station Corridor Enhancement Project

With the construction of the new West Dublin BART station underway, this project will improve pedestrian, transit and bicycle facilities along Dublin Blvd. Improvements to Dublin Blvd include installing identity markers and city entrance signs, raising landscaped medians and sidewalk bulb outs at the vicinity of Donlon Way, widening sidewalks between the I-680 overpass and Village Parkway, installing and replacing bus shelters, raising catch basins to improve bicycle safety, widening the Iron Horse Trail to Tassajara Creek bikeway, and installing landscaping and a gateway feature a the intersection of Dublin Blvd and Dougherty Road.

Village Parkway / Amador Valley Blvd. Stormwater Treatment Units

Village Parkway / Amador Valley Blvd. Stormwater Treatment Units

In order to divert trash from entering the storm drain system, this project will install two storm runoff filters in existing storm drain lines. The first unit will be located on Maple Drive near York Drive, and the second unit will be located on Amador Valley Blvd near Village Parkway. Additionally a vegetative swale will be constructed at the northbound I-680 ramp from Village Parkway. The project, funded by Caltrans, will take place in FY-2008-2009.
