Frank Stager Community Gymnasium
The Stager Community Gymnasium is located at 6901 York Drive and is part of the Valley High School campus. The facility was built in partnership with the Dublin Unified School District.
The Gym is used during school hours by the High School and is available for community use after school. The gym is available for rental to the community during non-school hours when it is not being used for City programs. Bleacher seating is available.
The Gym can be configured to provide one full-size basketball court or two shorter basketball courts. Six baskets are available during practice time. The Gym can also accommodate one full-size or two shorter soccer/futsal courts or two regulation volleyball courts.
The facility is named in memory of Frank Stager who was the first school board president for the Murray School District, which later became the Dublin Unified School District. After leaving the field of Geology (in which he had earned a Master's degree) he started a career in teaching and administration. He taught at Murray, Donlon and Frederiksen elementary schools. He also served as Principal at Murray and Cronin elementary schools and as Vice-Principal at Wells Middle School. Frank loved kids and the kids adored him. Frank Stager died in September 1998 from cancer. Many of his former students have now settled with their own families in Dublin and still tell stories about the fabulous things they learned in his class and how he ignited in them a love for learning.
